The digital school of the big American studios is Made in Italy
Verona, the city of love and passion, the perfect place to be inspired by its immense artistic heritage and fully experience all the adventures it has to offer: it is in this context that Side Academy, an established partner of major projects such as Marvel, Disney, and Ducati, was born.
A Renaissance palace, in the heart of the city, a historical masterpiece that conceals within it the best digital technology of the moment. Past and present coming together to evolve to the future.
Just as was the case in Renaissance workshops, where the craftsman taught the craft to the pupil, who brought new forms to life with his or her own hands, Side Academy becomes the teacher of the new artisans of the twenty-first century, the digital generation.
Dream it, imagine it, design it
“No use taking refuge in dreams, Harry, and forgetting to live.”
Albus Dumbledore – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
Side Academy stands out for its wide range of courses: digital production, game art and visual development, 3d art up to screenwriting and editing courses. A path that starts totally from scratch, with the discovery of a whole new world that ensures that each student can find his or her own way, specialize, and be ready to enter big projects after just one year of study.
The paths are designed specifically to help children stimulate their imagination: starting with simple ideas and going on to create real projects bringing to life what would otherwise remain mere dreams.
Much more than a school...
“Tony, I’m glad you’re back at the compound.
I don’t like the idea of you wandering around a mansion all alone, we need a family.
The Avengers are your (…)“
Steve Rogers to Tony Stark – Captain America, Civil War
Side Academy owes its reputation to its team of teachers, highly successful professionals active in projects for major American studios and brands such as Gucci, Armani, Ducati, and Ferrari.
Famous names include: Kevin Mannens, who has been present in major Hollywood productions as a technical director and special effects designer. Oscar nominee for Imageworks production “Alice in Wonderland” and winner of the 2014 Annie Award ; Melanie Beisswenger curates Visual Effect and stands out in the world of advertising, in animation for “Happy Feet,” “Happy Feet 2,” and for films such as “Iron Man 3.” The Academy’s 3D artists include the names of Francesco Latini and Simone Ceccacci, curators of projects for Ducati, Ferrero and Bottega Veneta; another name that certainly stands out is that of Sarah Arduini, Oscar winner for the best VFX used in the Disney production “The Jungle Book.” Newly in the Side Academy family Stefano Ferrio, star of the storytelling course, professional journalist and writer for “Il Corriere della Sera.”
…a real Team
Like any self-respecting adventure, there is a need for the right traveling companions. So many young people, from the most diverse backgrounds but united by the same passion for digital creativity. These come together to share unique moments through the various experiences organized by Side Academy. In addition to various contests, where students can test themselves, the school is active in many projects nationally and internationally: from Venice, to London, to Hollywood!
London has been the springboard to success for many creatives in the field, including the teachers themselves. Side gives students a chance to experience the studios live, breathe in the atmosphere, talk to industry experts and learn the secrets of the trade.
Where it all begins
“Fifty years from now, when you look back on it,
don’t you want to be able to say I got in that car?”
Sam to Mikaela – Transformers
Side Academy wants to accompany young people in choosing the right course of study for them; that is why the school wants to expose itself to guide them and answer all questions.
Open Days will be held every month starting Dec. 19 so that children can get to know the school and the entire team of professionals. They will be held both on-site, in Verona, and online to facilitate even those who come from afar. What if you are unable to attend the Open Days? One can book a free trial class, either in-person or online, to enter the Side Academy world and experience firsthand the experience of bringing one’s imagination to life through the use of the best digital technology. There is also a reminder of the annual Job & Orienta event which, this year, will be held online from Wednesday, November 25 to Friday, November 27, 2020.
